Style expert Barbara Ellis of The Stylish Chick knows style and fashion for real woman like you.

Born into a family of style experts, Barbara grew up surrounded by fashion.  Her legendary Grandma Betty owned a couture dress shop in Los Angeles, so Barbara’s time spent with her was learning the basics of proper fit, color and proportion.  Spring breaks involved the creation of entire new outfits that were the envy of all her friends.

As a teen, Barbara started working for the infamous Priscilla, who came to Ojai from Beverly Hills to open an exclusive clothing boutique.  Her clientele soon followed and Barbara was dressing celebrities and producing weekly fashion shows at the tender age of 16!  Before she even entered college Barbara had styled and produced a fashion show seen on national TV.

Always one with a rebellious streak, instead of following the straight path to becoming a professional stylist, Barbara got her degree in Landscape Design then worked a stint as a wedding consultant before coming back to the world of fashion.  For 8 years, Barbara worked as a style consultant for a national retailer, but still wasn’t satisfied that she’d learned everything she wanted to about the creative world of design, so she moved on to being a buyer for a national home décor chain.

Her experiences with creating textiles and meeting women on buying trips around the world helped Barbara to see how underserved real women are when it comes to fashion.  There is the “fashion world” and there is the “real world”.  Determined to bridge the gap, Barbara left her corporate job and once again immersed herself in her true passion.

Barbara created The Stylish Chick in 2009 with the idea that fashion should be accessible and fun, not stodgy and elitist as the fashion world wants everyone to think.  It’s like having your own personal stylist there making it all work for you.

Barbara knows what women like you want; style that feels comfortable, effortless and current paired with a little spirit and humor!

Cutting through the celebrity hype, Barbara helps real women find and own their fabulous signature style with confidence!

Barbara lives in Virginia with her fabulous hubby, teenage son and her shoe collection.
